President’s Parent & Family Leadership Council

Sending a child to college is a life-changing experience for a family and our goal is to enrich this chapter in their lives. The President’s Parent & Family Leadership Council represents the larger community of the Purdue University parents and serves as an advisory group to the university through counsel, feedback, and support throughout the academic year. Our mission is to build a community to engage with the university through participation, service, and philanthropic support to invest in the educational and long-term success of our students.

Guiding Principles

• Enrich student and family experiences with Purdue University
• Champion Purdue University on campus, in home areas, and within business networks
• Support the mission and priorities of Purdue University through participation of one on-campus meeting annually in the fall

A Message from the Parent Co-Chairs

Greetings Boilermaker Parents,

We are thrilled to welcome you as Boilermaker Parents! As the incoming Co-Chairs of the President’s Parent and Family Leadership Council, we are honored to continue this tradition of partnership and extend our heartfelt thanks to outgoing Co-Chairs, Melinda and Chris Lister, for their dedicated leadership.

Looking ahead, we are filled with gratitude and enthusiasm as we serve our families alongside President Mung Chiang. It is inspiring to be part of a network of passionate, purpose-driven leaders committed to creating meaningful educational and social opportunities for our students and faculty. Together, we look forward to advancing innovative programs at both the West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses while building a welcoming, supportive community where our children can thrive on and off campus.

As a non-alumni family, we quickly discovered how special this community is—welcomed at our very first admitted student event, embraced at Leadership Council gatherings, and connected with parents, staff, and even Coach Painter. Our family now cherishes time on campus for football and basketball games, parents’ weekends, and Council sessions where we have opportunities to share ideas, advice, and camaraderie in our own Purdue Parent community.
